If you have been thinking about the scenario I presented about the PK shot hitting the sub and then going in, well, here is your answer. According to that scenario, the restart, is a goal kick. Not sure how they came to that conclusion but that is what I was told, so I pass that on to you.

I'm not sure where they came up with the goal kick solution. I looked through "Advice to Referees on the Laws of the Game." I found several passages that might apply. They all result in either a retake or an indirect kick for the defenders. I think it is the latter:
"If a member of the attacking team committed misconduct, then the referee would stop play, punish the misconduct, and restart with an indirect free kick for the opposing team*."
Neither did I, no idea how it becomes a goal kick. Actually, the instructor might have been playing around with us. Can't completely rule that out either.
